I was getting ready to paint the gunship gray on my SD viper and had your book sitting right there so flipped through it for where the demarcation lines were. That's when I realized for the first time that most SD vipers don't have the A/C vent behind the right side cockpit. Nice save! I was really impressed how you showed the span of markings from the early A's to the most modern. I CAN'T wait to see the 'Viper Guide' with quality like this!!

This is one awesome book. I am really pleased with the photography and I consider this an integral part of my F-16 memory bank. I saw a whole lot of old "friends" between the covers of that book.

--Tom Foard, Richmond, Virginia, retired 192FW avionics troop

The book arrived today.....WOOOOOOO, it is so great!! Thanks a lot and my hat´s off for Your intense work on this huge project. I really think is it the greatest F-16 book yet available. I specially like the text details saying what happened to the particular aircraft on the picture (AMARG, crashed, transferred to another unit etc.)
Another unique thing is the photography  - more or less not see earlier pictures all the way through!!
All in all a great book with many hours of studying on my side - a new trick or two to learn definitely!!

--Henrik Elstorp, Denmark

I got the book today and I must say that this is outstanding....great work.  The book is excellent!
Thank you for such an excellent reference...

--Paul Baumgardner

Got the book in the mail today. Awesome job!!!.Probably one the best books I have ever bought. Keep up the good work. Look forward to the other books coming out.

--Jason Owens, Richmond, Virginia

Hey Jake i just got your book and i wanna say its awesome! It has great pics and was a great buy.

--Zach Falzon, Houston, Texas

I got mine Thursday. What a great book! Lots of cool history that I am glad won't be lost in cyberspace forever. I love how you revisited the units that no longer even have the Vipers, cool (and sad) to see how they have been shuffled and transistioned throughout the years. And the coolest part is there's pictures right up to a few months ago in it. That doesn't happen very often, usually by the time the books come out half of the "current" information that is published is outdated. I definately recommend this book, it is worth it!

--David Jackman, Kansas City, Missouri

I just got it yesterday afternoon, it is simply the finest book on F-16's I've ever seen! Everybody go get one!
First rate pics and a first rate publication. A must have for any F-16, ANG, etc fan. I could ramble on and on, but I think I already have.

Jeff Pasteris, Naperville, Illinois

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents on the book. EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET A COPY!
Jake did a great job, and put out a really top notch reference on the Viper units. If you haven't bought one yet, order one, you won't be disappointed. Plus, Jake's a really good guy to boot.
Looking forward to the next book.

--Scott Dworkin, Thousand Oaks, California

It is now THE book for ANG F-16's and the future volumes will be THE book for those units as well, and The Modern Viper Guide will raise the bar for aircraft detail reference books.

You have to get the book if you like/love F-16's!!

I just got my book today! WOW! Outstanding!
Great job Jake!

--Joel Watson, Billings, Montana

Wow Jake, Sierra Hotel, man! What an incredible book, from the first to the last page. It's great to see so many old friends, both photographers and all of those Vipers....A first class publication from a first class guy. I can't wait for the next one! I recommend it to anyone who has ever looked up when they heard a JFS wind up...

I wanted to tell you that I received my copy this week from Gordon at Sprue Brothers. I'm blown away by the photos, layout and sheer size of the book. Your Viper walkaround book is now on my short 'buy' list. That will come in handy with all of my kits and decals. Thank you again for some wonderful reading!

I am just blown away by this thing....its just far and away the most incredible resource available for F-16Cs....I don't own a viper book-- and I own all of them-- that comes close to this. Its just not that it lays everything out for you, but the pictures are gorgeous, and large enough to be really useful should you decide to add a "lot something extra" to your next viper build. I'm out of superlatives.....its just beyond description.....its a "have to see it to believe it" type of thing. It bodes VERY well for the upcoming titles, and having been there for a lot of the A-10 pictures....WOW!

I consider this book the definitive reference/pictorial resource for the F-16C/D. I know when Jake took pics of our Block 30's for this book, he would take hundreds of pics in a 1-2 hour timeframe trying not to miss a single detail, I know he agonized over what shots to put in the book.
Like I have mentioned before, I consider Jake a authority on the F-16 and even after all my years of crewing them I still turn to him regarding the various Blocks of the Viper, and the only one outside of being a Lockheed-Martin tech rep or military member I can say that about.

I just received my copy in the mail and I must say, Jake, you should be proud. What an incredible reference.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on this book, and all I can say is it is incredible. This is the F-16 reference, period. Now go buy it!

I got my copies of both Viper books on Saturday. You Da Man!!!!! Both books are really worth every penny.

I think I own every product that Mr. Melampy has ever sold. Let me say that they are all of the highest quality; and The Modern Viper Guide is no exception. With the new Tamiya kits available in both scales, I know many modelers would like to super-deatil items like the radar, gun installation, engine bay, etc. Jake's book is all you will need to complete a Viper project. Very-highly recommended.

I really don't think there's a better book on the F-16C/D than this one.

I had the immense honor of helping Jake out on this book. We are lucky in the modeling world to have someone like Jake who is obsessed about "getting it right". I am sure the modeling public will appreciate the effort.

I just got mine in very wet Scotland!
Another great success - and finally - I have close up shots of the open spoilers in all their glory. I am delighted at the wealth of detail Jake. You are setting a new standard for not only walkarounds but also accurate detailed information on the varying types.
